1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

This 3 day workshop will consist of clay building in the pottery studio and a half-day of surface work. We will focus on slab technique, which involves rolling clay out in long ribbons that are 2 inches in width. The ribbons are shaped then stacked for height.

The student should bring to the first day of class at least 2 different images of possible forms to make. What inspires you? What have you been craving to create? Sketches or examples of inspiration are welcome.

Once the sculpture is built we will allow a couple of weeks for the piece to dry. Students will return to apply oxides or glaze. The piece will be fired again and will be ready to pick up in 2 to 3 days.

All materials provided, including special clay specific for sculptures.
