GVA has three gallery locations. The first is the Portman Gallery at GVA, the second is a smaller space located at the Golden Isles Welcome Center in the Pier Village located in on St. Simons Island, and the third is in the lobby of Hotel Simone on St. Simons Island.
We strive to present accessible and diverse works that foster educational opportunities for visitors to the Golden Isles. St. Simons Island, Georgia has been recognized as one of “The Best U.S. Islands” in 2022 by Condé Nast Traveler, and was named “One of the South’s Best Beach Towns” by Southern Living Magazine in 2022.
Portman Gallery at GVA
The Glynn Visual Arts Portman Gallery seeks artworks that enrich our community by initiating discussion and connection. Exhibitions are five to six weeks in length and artists working in all visual arts mediums are encouraged to apply. Both traditional and contemporary art styles are accepted.
Exhibitions are scheduled one year in advance, with the jury selection process taking place each January. We are now accepting applications for the 2026 Exhibition calendar year. The deadline for submitting your application is March 31, 2025.

GVA at the Visitors Center
We are not currently taking 2025 applications for the Visitors Center due to impending renovations.
GVA at Hotel Simone
GVA’s partnership with Hotel Simone began in the winter of 2023. The Exhibitions Committee selects GVA Artist Level+ members on a quarterly basis for exhibitions in the hotel lobby and gathering area. Applications are now closed for 2025. We’ll post applications for 2026 at a future time.
