choosing to listen: photography by stephanie conti and cermics by patty crowl
Glynn Visual Arts (GVA) presents Choosing to Listen, a duo exhibition by photographer Stephanie Conti and ceramicist Patty Crowl. These two St. Simons Island, GA, artists approach their art forms intuitively, allowing their material and processes to shape the final works and stories therein.
Choosing to Listen, as a title for this show, is meant to convey the artists’ acceptance of place, time, and everyday events to influence their styles and outcomes. “Listening means that I stop to appreciate the seemingly small and quiet moments that ultimately come together as a story,” said Conti, owner of Stephanie Conti Photography. “There is beauty and importance in everyday life,” she said.
Crowl is an accomplished abstract ceramicist whose works can be found in several retail shops throughout the country and later this month she will be showing her work at the Marburger Farm Show in Round Top, Texas. Crowl said the clay leads her shaping and composition. “I don’t impose myself on my sculptures. I slow down, listen, and let the work evolve,” she said.
Opening Reception Thursday, October 15, 4:00-7:00p.m. Free and open to the public.

We’re falling in autumn with a number of new classes and workshops for all experience levels! Get muddy with taking a one-night Friday Night Fire. Feel festive with Beginning Watercolor Pumpkins, Decoupage Fall Pumpkins, and Painting a Christmas Pier.
Saturday Studio for Kids returns this month with some favorite returning instructors as well as some new faces! These 1.5 hour long morning sessions are a perfect way to keep kids creative throughout the year.
