Who is this class for? Anyone who wants to work with clay and have a unique and fun night out.
What is it? Come spend a few hours creating your own piece of pottery. Students will be taught a project step by step and create their own original project. This class is relaxed and timed to complete a project. Completed pieces will be fired and glazed and ready for pickup in approximately 3 weeks. The instructor will contact students when they are done.
Note: Each class is unique and different projects are offered each session.
Cost: $40 GVA Member / $46 Non-Member
No experience required. All materials included.

Who is this class for? Anyone interested in learning how to work with clay who has either never worked with it or has not done it in a long time. This is not an open studio type class. It will be teacher led and students will be given direct instruction for each project. Each class will have a specific focus and students will participate in each lesson.
In this class students will learn the essentials of creating ceramic pieces. The focus will be on handbuilding and construction techniques as well as simple glazing and finishing options. This class will have specific projects and lessons that all of the students will participate in and have several completed pieces when the course is finished.
Each week students will learn different essentials of ceramics and constructing.
COST: $150 GVA Member / $170 Non-Member
Fee covers 4 classes. Clay is sold separately for $35 plus tax, which includes both glazing and firing.
Don't forget to add clay. The price of clay includes glazing and firing.
POTTERY HANDBUILDING
THURSDAYS

INSTRUCTOR: Lisa Filer
Who is this class for? Anyone interested in making pottery and working with clay. Students will be offered projects they can complete each week. Students will be introduced to a variety of handbuilding techniques. Students will also glaze and paint their pieces for multiple finished works. Students are also welcome to come in with their own ideas as approved by the instructor. A teacher is in class to help and teach each week.
Note about working on the wheel: Although this is not a wheel class, wheels are available to work on if a student has experience setting and cleaning up, making, cleaning and finishing their own pieces. No wheel instruction will be offered.
Ages: 13+

POTTERS WITH NO CLASS
If you have taken at least two six-week pottery sessions at GVA and would like to work at your own pace on your own projects, this class is for you.

Who is this for? Anyone who has taken ceramics and pottery classes previously and knows how to work with clay. Students should know how to construct, finish and glaze pieces with little to no instruction. Students will work independently and not have guided instruction. A facilitator can help with studio and technical questions but will provide no projects or set plan for class work. Students with little or no experience in clay should not choose this class.
COST: $135 GVA Member / $155 Non-Member
Prerequisite: At least TWO six-week handbuilding pottery courses.
KIDS’ CLAY - HANDBUILDING

Students will learn the process of handbuilding while creating and decorating clay projects.
Students should wear comfortable clothes that can get messy.
Classes start on time, so make sure you don't miss any fun and arrive promptly.
No experience necessary. All materials (clay & tools) included.
COST: per 3 week session = $90 GVA Member / $105 Non-Member
