SPANISH STORYTIME AND CRAFTS
TUESDAYS

AGES: up to 4 years old + parent
MAX CLASS SIZE: 10 children (includes 1 adult per child)
Come to toddler “Mami y yo” (Mommy and Me) time, geared toward families of young children up to age 4 who will enjoy being introduced to the Spanish language through story time, singing, and a fun art activity.
This will be a great chance to get to spend quality time with your child, and learn a new language at the same time! Win, win fun!
All children have the ability to learn multiple languages, even children with delayed development or with different abilities.
SCHEDULE
February 25
Si Digo Ooh tu dices Aah by John Kane
Teacher will have pre-cut donkey, and ant shapes and the families will create a background using watercolors, tempera sticks, and dot markers. Once background is created, the parents can help their child glue the donkey and ant to the paper.
March 4
Dragones y Tacos by Adam Rubin, Illustrated by Daniel Salmieri
Create a taco using paper plates and construction paper in the colors and shapes of lettuce, tomato, and cheese.
March 11
Cuenta Con Dr. Seuss by Dr. Seuss
Children will stick foam numerous on a piece of construction paper, and then they will use dot paints to represent that number. Parents will write the name of the number in Spanish.
March 18
La llama llama Rojo Pijama by Anna Dewney
Children will create a colorful quilt for their Llama using several pieces of color square paper. Practicing the colors in Spanish.
March 25
Señora Mariposa by Ben Gundersheimer; Illustrated by Marcos Almada Rivero
Children will use sponges with a rubber band in the middle and orange, white, and black tempera paint to print the shape of a monarch butterfly.
All materials provided, including special clay specific for sculptures.

Miss Mili Mendola is a Native Spanish speaker born in Peru, South America, and is a newcomer to St. Simon’s Island where she resides with her husband, and son, who is a Senior at Frederica Academy. They also spend their time attending their four dogs walking them around this beautiful island!
Mili is a member of Glynn Visual Art center where she has taken several clay building classes. She also paints pet portraits and other subjects by commission. She is a former art teacher with 25 years experience teaching in Public and Private elementary schools of Florida and South Carolina, and also has experience teaching Spanish to grades K-8. Since moving to Georgia, she has been very involved with homeschool families in our area, and is really loving this aspect of her life!
