AUTUMN RESET: MINDFULNESS THROUGH ART
Join us for a day of balancing your mind, spirit, and body as we enter into the autumnal solstice! The day will feature art workshops, mindful yoga, and a lunch & learn discussing the importance of daily creativity! Participants may register for individual sessions or enjoy the entire day of rest and relaxation.

Saturday, September 12
9:00 - 10:00a.m. Yoga in the Gallery: A mindful start to the day taught by Shannon Herndon Gabell, registered yoga teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance. Shannon's teaching style focuses on breath and body awareness, guiding with intention to strengthen the body and calm the mind. Open to all experience levels.
10:15 - 12:15p.m. Peaces - A Mixed Media Exploration: Join Emily Stewart, artist and designer of Emily Stewart Studio for a morning of mindfulness and creativity in this hands-on course exploring the world of mixed media. Together, you will create a three-dimensional painting working with acrylic paints, oil pastels, wire, tape and cuttings. Using prompts, you will dive into memories and feelings of peace: a place, an item, an experience, or a mantra. Each work of art will be unique and representative of our own life experiences. Come ready to slow down, get a little messy, and rediscover a sense of wonder.
12:30 - 2:00p.m. Lunch & Learn: Listen to a fun discussion about the importance of creativity in daily life by artist Catherine Durrett while you enjoy lunch.
2:00 - 4:00p.m. Wonder of Watercolor: GVA artist and instructor Lily Oetjen provides instruction in this 2-hour watercolor class great for all levels. Students will embrace the unpredictable flow of water and pigment, forcing you to focus entirely on the present moment.

About the Instructors
Shannon Herndon Gabell is a wife, mama, and wellness advocate. Guiding the community towards health, peace, and union through yoga is her passion.
She strives to build connection and purpose through breath and movement. Other interests include big hugs, laughing out loud, and loving on humans and animals.

Emily Stewart is a New York School of Interior Design graduate forming her own company in 2023. From visual works, to private event design, to bespoke handcrafted goods to high-end, residential interior design, her path has been anything but traditional.
If she is out of the office, she is usually thrifting antiques, making something with her hands or working on her 1940s historic home with lovely husband, Ryan.

Catherine Durrett is a lifetime artist committed to the continued pursuit of honing her artistic drive. Both her parents were artists and she attended various schools of art - Pratt Phoenix, NYC School of Art, Atlanta College of Art are some.
She has worked for years in art related jobs and continues to paint locally and her murals grace many local businesses.

Hang Le Oetjen, or Lily to her friends, was born and raised in Vietnam. Her artistic journey has truly flourished since coming to the United States. In particular, Glynn Visual Arts has become a sanctuary for her creativity—a remarkable community that welcomes, inspires, and connects everyone who shares a profound love for art!
