Expressing Democracy

A Patchwork of Voices

Glynn Visual Arts invites artists to participate in an exciting collaborative project to be exhibited at the College of Coastal Georgia in conjunction with the Smithsonian Institution’s Museum on Main Street Program, Voices and Votes: Democracy in America. We are looking for your artistic vision of the roll of an active, informed citizen in our democracy and the importance of voting and freedom of speech in America. 

IMPORTANT: All works MUST be done on 12”x12” or 12”x 24” splined gallery wrapped canvases or a 12”x12” cradled wood panel between 1” and 2” deep. Any media that can be affixed to the front of the canvas can be submitted eg. paint, collage, stitchery, photography etc.  Your canvas will be attached to other canvases so the sides should be finished but not have attachments thicker than a sheet of paper.

This exhibition is open to artists in Southeast Georgia and will be juried by a selection of judges. Accepted artworks will be incorporated into a patchwork unit and displayed at the College of Coastal Georgia in Brunswick, Georgia alongside the Smithsonian’s exhibition from November 1 – December 13, 2026.  Artists names will be listed along with the installation. Appropriate canvases are available online at Blick.com and locally at Michaels. Canvases that do not conform in size or are warped will be excluded. Artists may submit up to 2 pieces but only one piece will be included in the exhibition if selected.  Artists must register with the link below and include digital images in the application. Artworks also may be delivered to Glynn Visual Arts on St. Simons Island between April 1 – August 15, 2026. Artists will be notified of acceptance the first week of September.

ALL SUBMITTED ARTWORKS WILL BECOME THE PROPERTY OF GLYNN VISUAL ARTS. If we find a permanent home for the Patchwork of Voices, your art may not be returned to you.
