Creating Unexpected Beauty
FROM YOUR REPURPOSED ARTWORK
CREATING UNEXPECTED BEAUTY FROM YOUR REPURPOSED ARTWORK with Kathy Rennell Forbes
May 5 - 7
9:00a.m. - 1p.m.
MEDIUM: Paper Making and Collage
Award-winning artist Kathy Rennell Forbes will share her creative process for repurposing your stash of unwanted or unfinished works into beautiful, unusual multi-media artwork. Use your “oops” and “ughs” watercolors and oil or acrylic panels and canvases to make paper and new art in this hands-on three-day workshop. You will be surrounded by inspiration, as Kathy’s collage work will be installed in the GVA Portman Gallery starting May 5.
Leave your jewelry at home and plan to get messy!
Day 1: Discuss process, shred old watercolors and make paper, prep panel or canvas and set out to dry overnight.
Day 2: Seal the new paper with gesso, create sketches, adhere dried gessoed paper to panel or canvas. Place under weights and allow to dry overnight.
Day 3: Add additional collage items and paint the paper. Break for lunch to allow it to dry. Seal your new art.
COST: $250 GVA Member / $275 Non-member
