CREATING UNEXPECTED BEAUTY FROM YOUR REPURPOSED ARTWORK with Kathy Rennell Forbes
June 9 - 2p.m. - 5p.m.
June 10 - 10a.m. - 4p.m.
MEDIUM: Paper Making and Collage
Students will learn the process Kathy uses to create her multi-media images from repurposed watercolors, and oil or acrylic panels and canvases.
Bring old artwork (or use our shredded art at GVA!), pulverize it into pulp and make paper with it! Then create new artwork by collaging from the newly made but recycled paper!
Leave your jewelry at home and plan to get messy!
Day 1: We will talk about the process, shred our old watercolors, make paper in blender, prep panels or canvases. Set out to dry overnight under fans.
Day 2: Seal the new paper with gesso, create sketches, adhere paper with dry gesso to panel or canvas. Place under weights and allow to dry 1 hour during lunch break. Add additional collage items and paint the paper. Let dry, then seal with spray varnish. Allow to dry 20-30 minutes. Coat with UVL varnish. Clean up while it dries.
COST: $175 GVA Member / $195 Non-member
A $10 material fee payable to Kathy.
