PAINTING FLOWERS with VIBRANT COLORS and ALIVENESS
FRIDAY-SUNDAY, April 9-11,2027
10:00a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
INSTRUCTOR: Pat Fiorello
MEDIUM: Painting; Oil or Acrylic
Learn to paint vibrant, glowing flowers with a loose, fresh, direct approach in this focused workshop.
Pat will teach an easy and fun alla prima approach to painting flowers (applying layers of wet-on-wet paint). Learn to simplify flower shapes, depict form through observation of light and shadow patterns, mix color and add expressive brushwork to your paintings. Let go of perfectionism and tight painting while still capturing the beauty and essence of flowers in your paintings. This workshop will include demonstrations, instruction, critiques and one-on-one guidance as needed while you paint.
On Day 1, students paint together with a photo supplied by the instructor to concentrate on learning the transparent/opaque technique. Then you will bring in flowers of your choice and you will work from your own simple fresh flower set-ups on Days 2-3.
Students should have some experience painting in oils or acrylics, but need not be skilled in alla prima techniques.
COST : $550 GVA Member / $595 Non-Member
