2026 Hofwyl Plein Air Paint Out & Traveling Show

The Hofwyl Paint Out is an annual event held in the spring and organized by Friends of Hofwyl-Broadfield Plantation – a volunteer non-profit that works to fund and carry out upkeep and improvement projects at the site. St. Simons Island painter George Netherton is a co-founder of the event and said the artists look forward to this one-day celebration as a fun way to share their love of art and their friendship with Fendig.

9:00 am to 3:00 pm, Saturday, March 21, 2026.
Location:
Hofwyl Broadfield Plantation, located on Route 17 (9 miles north of Brunswick, 4 miles south of Darien). Exit 42 off I-95 – 1 mile east on route 99 to 17, entrance is directly across from end of route 99.
Registration and Cost:
$35. per artist. Includes Admission to Hofwyl, Catered Lunch and Road Show Exhibit. Registration ahead of time is required.
Please just send a check for $35 to the address below. Please also note that we no longer have the PO Box, so checks will go directly to Hofwyl this year. Don’t forget to include your name and contact information along with the check.

The Plein Air Event:
Artists of All Levels W elcome! Bring your plein air gear for The Annual Albert Fendig – Hofwyl Plein Air Affair. No prizes, no judging, just good camaraderie and great fun. Lots to paint – 800 year old moss draped\live oaks, scenic vistas across the rice fields, 150 year old plantation house, barns, slave cabins and out-buildings. Artists and Art Admirers everywhere!
Road Show Exhibit:
All artists will be eligible for the road show exhibit. Road Show Paintings: If you have paintings from previous shows at the Hofwyl Auditorium, this would be a good time to pick them up. Alternatively, you may donate any paintings to “Friends of Hofwyl,” but if you do please confirm that in writing.
